Plans Underway For Alternative Summer Festival



If the Electric Picnic is about as alternative as you thought it gets, think again. Except instead of a lot of muck stomping to the years hottest and trendiest acts Irelands real alternative summer festival offers answers to some of the oldest questions in the book. Why are we here? Organizers of the National Summer Youth Festival at Knock Shrine are hoping more than 1,000 young people aged between 18 and 35 will camp-up and flock to Knock Shrine between July 24 and 27 to celebrate Catholicism and faith in modern Ireland under the banner ‘Living Life to the Full?’

Clonmel will host an international cycling event next September when the time trial run from Carrick on Suir made famous by the legendary Sean Kelly will be revived.
The World Military Cycling Event will be held in Clonmel in conjunction with the Defence Forces and Clonmel Cycling Club.

The event will provide a major boost to the town’s economy and enhance its tourism profile with military competitors from all over the world taking part from September 9th to September 14th. Read more
 
Marks and Spencer to open in June at Showgrounds Shopping Centre

Retail giant Marks & Spencer has delivered a major boost to Clonmel this week, as the property consultants for the project have confirmed that it will open its first branch in the south east at the Showgrounds Shopping Centre this summer.
Savills Director Peter O'Meara stated that it is "full steam ahead" for M&S at the state-of-the-art shopping centre at Davis Road, adding that this is a significant vote of confidence in the town in the context of the severe economic downturn. For full story
